What We Believe
We are Progressive Christians
At UTemple, we know that the Bible is not a closed book, but one that pushes us into the world for progressive positive change. We respect each other and know that as Children of God, we all hold a bit of holiness within us. God is not a distant subject, but one who is intimate in each and every one of our lives. As Progressive Christians, we refuse to shy away from tough questions, but instead enter into them with openness and affirmation that both God and Creation are good.
We Believe in Active Social Justice
We understand that there is injustice in the world...but we refuse to accept it. As followers of Jesus, we are called to actively engage with the problems of our time. From the Alley to the Academy, we are called to not only help those who are in pain, but to stand up to the powers that cause that pain.
We are Open and Affirming
All people are called to God’s table as God’s children. As a Reconciling Congregation, we stand proudly with our LBGTQI family. There is no room for hatred and discrimination within the Body of Christ. All are welcome. All are affirmed. All are loved.
